Separate pages for WWW.domain or just http://(domain)

Post by DoctorWeb »

Some notes from Google Analytics suggest that I should treat files with www before the domain as seperate to ones wthat just have
http:// (domain). I never realised this. I cant find anywhjere in the manual that says how to reload the folders up seperately - doi I need to do that even, or is there simply some swith that tells QuicknEasyWebBuilder to upload both versions? (ie one with a WWW in the address and the other without)

How you configure the domain is up to you, this has nothing to do with QnEWB. This is server related.

Im confused now; I was sure a previous copmment on here said it was taken care of automatically. So just to clarify, we should sut up a duplicate set of pages, one with www. and one without? Presumably these would share the constituent objects, and we need only put up two html files, for the basic page ' skeleton'?

Thanks for clarifying.

The software does not take care of server configuration. This can only be done on the server in your host configuration settings.
You will need to set the same 'root' for both www. and without it.
This is unrelated to the (HTML) files generated by the application.

Just one last attempt to get an answer I can understand, should I be sending onto the server both a version of the site with WWW, and one without. (I'm now on https). Nothing at all in my hosting / server instructions about this. I understand that the software doesnt control the server, the question is "does QnE v6 make two copies and send one to the server / host as a www and one as a plain https:// so that both display. Or should the server be making up two, or do I do this manualluy?
(As a general rule of thumbn, as perhaps hosts all do things differently)

Thanks for your patience

On the server (with help from your webhost), you can configure that both (sub) domains use the same root.
does QnE v6 make two copies and send one to the server / host as a www and one as a plain https:// so that both display.
No, QnE only publishes the files where you tell it publish them to. If you have two different (sub) domains with different roots then you will need to publish the files twice.

So, you will need to contact your host for further assistance.
