Site Search tutorial

Post by moris »

Hey,

So I was trying to understand how the Site Search feature works. I found this article: http://www.quickandeasywebbuilder.com/sitesearch.html
On the bottom there is a link to an example but it downloads a .wbs file

How can I see an actual example for .QWB?

Thank you!

Thanks, it works now.

Although, I was wondering if it possible to have this scenario:
1. Search on the Homepage.
2. When pressing the Search button it directs to a different page, let's call it: SearchResults.html.
3. Results are displayed in SearchResults.html in Layer1.

Such scenario can be done?

Thanks,

Yes, that is possible.

See 'Show results in another page.' in the manual.

Hi Pablo,
My search results are currently not accurate at all and I was wondering if you can assist me define the Search Results logic in order to have more accurate results.
The issue is that I have a Menu on every page and no matter what I search it just displays me everything in the menu because obviously this keyword is there. Is there any way to have it more accurate? For example if I search for: ASOS then the first result would be this page: http://www.couponsexplorer.com/asos.html

You can set the scope of the search index in Tools -> Site Search Settings.
if you select 'text only' then menu text should not be included.

Thanks Pablo,

Works better now!
I have a bug with the Site Search and I was wondering if you know why.
If you get to the Search Results page such as: http://www.couponsexplorer.com/searchRe ... l?q=lofree
and try to make another new search again it doesn't response.

Do you have any idea why?

Thanks again!

There are two search forms on the page. This is not allowed.

Is there any way I can make the Search work on Desktop and Breakpoint mode?
I tried to unhide the Search in Breakpoint mode and it gives no results.

Thanks.

Th search should work in all breakpoints, as long as you share the same objects.

I am using the same mechanism for both Desktop and Breakpoint.
Can I send you over the .qwb file?

At the moment I am on Holiday so you cannot send me files.
I will be back next week.

But in your previous project you had two search form on the page, this is not correct.
Only one site search object can be used per page.
