Installation not found on storage device

Post by alex4orly »

I have downloaded and installed the trial version (Ubuntu/Debian 64bit) on Ubuntu 20.04
It loads and runs with the known limitation of trial, BUT

I tried to create a file association, so that it can be launched by clicking the file project.

Well, whatever I tried, I dod NOT seem to locate the installation folder on the storage device, and it seems that's why I can create the file association.

Any idea?

Thanks

OK, found the storage location and copied from the .desktop file the following line:

/opt/quick-n-easy-web-builder-7/qnewb

But, it still does NOT open QNE

The application will be installed in the '/opt' folder

This is where I found it, why do you say will be?
Isn't it installed now?
How is that related to not be able to set file association?

Thanks

It looks like we posted at the same time. I was just trying to help you where to find the application.

Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with file associations under Linux.

in the file manager - "open with" and set the application. Use the following:

/opt/quick-n-easy-web-builder-7/qnewb

as the path and executable

Works for me!

Much prefer the Linux option (using Mint Cinnamon) and I get very annoyed when I have to use Windows :-)

This is the first thing I tried, doesn't work here
I start thinking - maybe there is something wrong with my Ubuntu 20.04 installation?

Thanks, I will keep digging

I know, Cinnamon gives an easier transition from Windows, but I am trying to make a real shift...

Cheers

By "trial version" if you mean a live session rather than a full install, don't forget it loads the whole Linux and application into RAM. It doesn't write anything to hard disk unless you specifically tell it to do so. That means the installation will be lost as soon as it is closed or the machine re-booted.

That is the whole intention of a live session, you can try it without making any changes to the computer, but as you have noted, it has some serious limitations and it also runs considerably slower.

Well, not only I have the unresolved file association problem, but
Setting up to load the last used project - is ignored and I start with a blank project

Now, this is no longer the trial version, I purchased the package and registered with the key

Where do I go now?

There is no option to open the last used project.

Maybe you have enabled "Open the most recent used page of the project"?
This will open the page that was active when you last saved the project.
However, you still will have to load the project manually.

OK, but even then - my latest screen was saved, I start QNE and it just open the BLANK project, NOT the latest page I was on

So, what is the story here?

Thanks

There is no option to open the last used project.
The software will always open a blank project when it loads.

So, there is no point to try and create a file association in this case?
But, checking the box to load the last, page, doesn't do anything either...

Nice, thanks

Why, not?
"file association" is system functionality and has nothing to to with the software.
But, checking the box to load the last, page, doesn't do anything either..
It seems to work correct for me.
Do you have a demo project?
